Nazar Zhdan

Nazar Zhdan serves as Senior Director of State Relations and Advocacy at The Ohio State University Office of Government Affairs. Nazar is responsible for developing advocacy, engagement, and communications strategies and leading the advocacy programs to advance the university’s public policy agenda at the federal, state, and local levels.

Before joining Ohio State, Nazar worked as Vice President of Client Affairs at Van Meter, Ashbrook & Associates and as Senior Manager of Government Affairs at Root Insurance, one of the largest insurance technology companies in the country. In this role, he helped develop the company's positions on regulatory, legislative, and general government matters and business-related opportunities nationwide. Nazar brings over a decade of experience working with the legislative and executive branches of government and implementing advocacy and communications strategies.

Nazar is a native of Ukraine and he is actively engaged in the Ukrainian American community, serving as Government Liaison of the United Ukrainian Organizations of Ohio, which advocates for groups that represent the ethnic, spiritual, economic, political, and cultural interests of Ukrainians in Ohio.

Nazar earned his Bachelor of Arts degrees in Economics and Political Science from Ohio Wesleyan University.
